Final Day 10.4.23

16.00 – The conditions remain too light for competition. Don’t forget that we have the official prize giving ceremony at 6pm on the main stage!

13.00 – The conditions remain light, but we are all down on the beach ready incase the wind improves.

12.00 –  still no improvement in the conditions. We remain on standby.

11.15 – We are on standby. It is still extremely light, but the next announcement will be at 11.30.

10.00 – Good morning from the final day in Leucate! Skipper’s meeting is coming up now at 10.30. There seems to be a small chance of some tramontana wind this morning so we are getting ready!

Day Five 9.4.23

17.55 – The wind has unfortunately not improved so that is a wrap for today. We will be back tomorrow for the final day of competition!

16.30 – Read flag is up as the wind has dropped and we are back on standby.

16.00 – Heat 2 is won by Bastien Escofet.

15.30 – Men’s Elimination 3 is ON! Noe Cuyala wins heat 1.

15.00 – Men’s elimination 2 final results – Mathis Ghio takes the win followed closely by Bastien Escofet.

14.30 – The wind here, the course is set, and we are starting with the FreeFly-Slalom discipline.

13.00 Next update at 13.30. Everyone is heading to the beach.

11.00 Good morning everyone! We have completed the skipper’s meeting and will keep you updated as the wind conditions improve. Next call at 12. We are doing an autograph session now in the village.

Day Four 8.4.23

18.00 – That’s a wrap for today! We will be back tomorrow for the 5th day of competition! See you then.

17.30 – We will be on standby for half an hour more to see if the wind possibly increases.

16.00 – Still no wind. The riders are preparing for some tow-in action while we wait.

14.00 – Unfortunately the wind remains very light. Next call 14.30.

12.00 – The conditions are improving and it looks as through we will be having a good afternoon of competition! We will give you the next announcement at 12.30.

10.00 – Good morning from Leucate! The skipper’s meeting is coming up at 10.30am, the wind is currently light but we are optimistic at having wind in the afternoon to be able to advance further in competition.

Day Three – 7.4.23

19.00 – That’s a wrap for today! The wind has fully dropped. We will have to wait until tomorrow to continue with the men’s elimination 2 final. Tomorrow we will have the skipper’s meeting at 10.30am. See you there!

18.45 – Men’s elimination 2 finals were started with Mathis Ghio taking the lead followed closely by Bastien Escofet, but the wind dropped and the AP flag went up just as they reached the 2nd mark. Riders are heading back to the beach.

18.40 – Nia Suardiaz wins women’s elimination 2 with a very solid lead.

18.00 – Semi-Final 2 has had to be restarted several times due to the dropping wind conditions. We are currently waiting for an improvement.

17.30 – Semi-Final 1 goes to Bastien Escofet who cruised through with a solid lead.

16.00 – Nia Suardiaz takes the win once again for elimination 2.

15.30 – Men’s elimination final was completed. 1st Mathis Ghio, 2nd Titouan Galea and 3rd Bastien Escofet

15.00 – The wind remains very light and not suitable yet for starting. 

14.00 – Get ready as we could be starting shortly! Important notice: Men’s elimination 1 is going to be re-run due to a protest that was validated today by the race crew.

13.00 – First possible start is at 2pm. The wind is increasing slightly.

10.00 – Good morning from Leucate! Who is ready for Day Three? The conditions are looking similar to yesterday, and we expect to be able to run some competition this afternoon. The skipper’s meeting will be taking place now at 10.30am, and then we expect to be hold until the wind increases later on during the day. Day Two – 6.4.23

20.00 – We have had several protests for the final, so we are still trying to get the final result. The wind has dropped and the competition is now off for the day. We will update the final results below as soon as we have them. Tune in tomorrow as we expect a similar forecast!

19.30 – Men’s Semi-Final 2 – Tom Auber, Nicola Spanu, and Ancor sosa.

19.00 – Men’s heat 4 – Tom Auber, Axel Gerard, Viniccius Martins.

18.20 – Men’s heat 3 – Alan Fedit in 1st, followed by Oscar Leclair, and Nicola Spanu.

18.15 – Men’s heat 2 – Benjamin May comes in first followed by Balz Muller and Titouan Galea.

18.10 – Men’s heat 1 – Mathis Ghio cruises through in first followed by Bastien Escofet and Sebastien Jourdant.

18.05 – Women’s elimination 1 – Nia Suardiaz, followed by Paula Novotna and Bowien van der Linden

18.00 – The FreeFly-Slalom discipline has started! Men’s and women’s elimination 1 are starting now.

17.30 – We are starting with women’s FreeFly-Slalom

17.15 – starting soon! Wind is here and the conditions are now suitable.

17.00 – The wind is shifting which is a promising sign.

15.00 – We are down on the beach and on standby! The wind is increasing and we hope to start shortly.

10.00 – Good morning from Leucate! It’s very calm this morning, however the forecast is looking better for this afternoon. The skipper’s meeting will be taking place at 10.30, and then we will give hourly updated. As soon as the conditions look suitable we will let you know.

Day One – 5.4.23

20.30 – That’s it for Day One! The wind dropped before we could complete the final. Tomorrow we have the skipper’s meeting called for 10.30am with a first possible start at 11.30am. See you then and thanks for following!

20.12 – Alan Fedit defeats Balz Muller and will advance to the finals to face Xavi Corr.

20.00 – Semi-final 2 is on the water. Balz Muller vs Alan Fedit.

19.50 – Axel Gerard stormed into semi-final 1 wasting no time, and stomped a clean Backflip followed by a Frontflip. Xavi Corr responded with the same tricks, but but then on his 5th trick attempt threw down a 9.40 innovation trick and with that he nailed his spot in the finals. 

19.38 – Semi-final 1 is now on the water. Axel Gerard vs Xavi Corr

19.00 – Balz Muller advances over Chris Mac Donald and snaps up the last spot in the semi-finals.

18.59 – Alan Fedit has another banger of a heat and locks down his spot in the semis, elimination Ricardo Zorzi.

18.20 – Chris Mc Donald grabs the last spot in the quarter finals.

18.13 – Balz Muller advances to the quarter finals over Lillian Juppet 

18.00 – Francesco Cappuzzo was bitterly disappointed to lose his heat against fellow Italian Ricardo Zorzi buy just a fraction of a point. 

17.50 – Another close heat between Alan Fedit and Jerome Cloetens, where Alan advances thanks to his innovation tricks.

17.30 – Xavi Corr advances over Jeremiah Mac Donald.

17.00 – Noe Cuyala advances over Bastien Escofet after riding a very solid heat.

16.45 – For the first heat of round 2, Axel Gerard knocks out Titouan Galea.

16.00 – We are moving on to round 2. The action continues!

15.30 -The top seeds all made a strong start to proceedings in men’s round 1. There was no messing around as big manoeuvres were thrown down from the start.

The highest trick score of of the round went to Bastien Escofet who slammed down an outstanding combo trick consisting of a Frontside 7 into a Frontside 3 with height and clean execution, scoring a perfect 10 points.

Alan Fedit took advantage of the new rules in round 1, landing 3 innovation tricks in his heat. According to the new rules that were introduced at this event, all flat innovation trick scores are now multiplied by 1.2, and all inverted innovations are multiplied by 1.3, in an aim to push athletes to perform new tricks and allow further development of the sport. Alan advanced from his heat with a solid overall score of 28.27 points.

14.30 – What a showdown it was for the women’s finals! Nia opened the heat with a bang stomping a 6.10 point FS3. She followed it up with a solid Toeside Frontside 5. For Bowien however, consistency was the name of the game, landing 9 of trick attempt, and gaining an overall score of 21 points, and giving her the win here at the Mondial du Vent! 

13.40 – We have our female finalists! Bowien van der Linden vs Nia Suardiaz

13.30 – Women’s semi-finals are now on: Bowien van der Linden vs Paula Novotna and Mar de Arce vs Nia Suardiaz

13.00 – We are advancing through the women’s rounds. 

12.15 – We apologise for the issues with our live scoring system. We are working on it and will have it up and running shortly. 

12.00 – Men’s heat Round 1 , Heat 1 is on! 

11.45 – Men’s round 1 is now on! We will be running two heats from the men followed by two heats from the women.

11.15 – The are now running the women’s seeding round before we move back into men’s round 1

9.45 – We are racing our way through the seeding round. The wind has increased to 25 knots.Live scoring will be available as from round 1.

8.15 – Heat 1 of the seeding round is on. We have 4 riders on the water. The wind is blowing approximately 12 to 15 knots. 

8.00 – The rider’s briefing is now complete. We will be starting shortly with the seeding round. There is no score available for the seeding round. 

7.00 – Good morning from Leucate! We are having a very early start here today, with the skipper’s meeting coming up at 7.30. The tramontana wind is blowing already so we will have a very full day of action starting with the Surf-Freestyle discipline.
