10.14 – The sun is shining and we’ve got clear blue skies! The northerly wind has shifted and it’s looking very promising for the thermal wind to kick up for an afternoon of competition. The skipper’s meeting takes place shortly and we’re preparing to get heats underway as soon as possible!

Stay tuned and check out the competition ladders below to be up to date with what’s going down in Silvaplana!

LIVETICKER DAY 4 Friday 17th JUNE (CEST / GMT+2)

17.21 – That’s it for day 4. With no wind, our judges have called time for today’s event. We’ll be back tomorrow with a weekend of good wind where we look to resume action in Silvaplana

15.49 – Still no wind in Silvaplana. It’s not looking likely we’ll run more competition today.

13.36 – After some thrilling pump foil action, our top 3 are announced! It’s been great to see the riders enjoying something different on tour and I’m sure it’s something we’ll see occur again on a light wind day at events to follow this year.

A big congratulations to Balz Mȕller for taking the win with the fastest time on the course!

Your top 3;

  1. B. MULLER
  2. T. GALEA
  3. M. CHABLOZ

As riders break for lunch we wait patiently again for the wind to fill in. Fingers crossed we see more action later on.

13.13 – Pump foil action is still taking place! There’s no sign of any wind for competition but all riders are giving it everything to secure a first tour win in Pump Foiling!

We should have a winning result very soon!

12.06 – All riders have now completed the pump foil course and only the top 10 have made it through. We’re going straight into a final but beforehand our judges are creating a new course. This time it’ll feature a figure of 8 turning point before crossing the line meaning the runs will be a little longer!

There’s less than a second between our top 3 so far, here are the times;

  1. B. MULLER: 22.27
  2. J. BURLANDO: 22.78
  3. B. ESCOFET: 22.98

Coming up shortly, the final!

11.30 – The pump foil competition is up and running! Your current leader, non-other than Balz Mȕller.

10.58 – While the wind isn’t where we want it to be the judges are preparing a course for the pump foil competition. Athletes are preparing their gear and heading to the dock where the action will get underway shortly.

10.05 – Day four of the Ensis Engadinwing by Dakine GWA Wingfoil World Cup is back at Silvaplana! The skipper’s meeting is currently taking place and it’s looking like we might have wind late in the afternoon. Beforehand, we’ll get some pump foiling action underway around 11.00 which will be a competition!

LIVETICKER DAY 3 THURSDAY 16th JUNE (CEST / GMT+2)

17.30 – Due to the lack of wind all day our Race Director has called time on today’s competition. We’re gutted not to bring you any live-action today but we’ll be back tomorrow morning again at Silvaplana where we can hopefully resume the heats.

16.28 – We’re still on hold in Switzerland!

15.44 – Next call at 16.00 for a possible 16.30 start! Looks like we might change to Surf-Slalom as our judges are preparing the course with the hope this wind fills in!

14.50 – Still no sign of action getting underway down here at Silvaplana. We’ll continue to stay optimistic as the minutes pass for some stable wind.

13.08 – A minor breeze has just switched to a South West direction! That’s good news for us and hopefully, we’ll have some stronger wind soon.

12.10 – We’re still on hold over here in Silvaplana. No wind is delaying our start time – let’s hope for some changes as we head into the afternoon.

11.30 – Next call at 12.00 – First possible start will now be 12.30

11.00 – Next call at 11.30 with a first possible start at 12.00.

The plan is to get the Men’s Surf-Freestyle underway to begin with. At the moment there’s no wind in sight and a minor rain spell has just passed through. We’re hopeful for an afternoon of competition.

10.30 – This morning we’re back in Silvaplana and will remain here for the duration of the competition! The skipper’s meeting is currently underway but the wind is nowhere to be seen. There are a few clouds overlooking the lake but the sun is shining so we’re hoping that the thermal wind will kick in for the afternoon!

First possible start – 11.00am

LIVETICKER DAY 2 WEDNESDAY 15th JUNE (CEST / GMT+2)

18.50 – That’s a wrap on our day in St Moritz. An up and down day with the wind being a pain at times. A few restarts, and some riders not finishing their heats but overall it’s been great to differ from Silvaplana and we’ll continue the remainder of the week over there.

Stay tuned for our Daily Action report that’ll go live later this evening!

18.40 – Top 3 Women’s Elimination 3 results;

  1. Nia Suardiaz
  2. Flora Artzner

18.23 – Heat 5 top 5;

  1. Francesco Cappuzzo
  2. Alessandro Tomasi
  3. Balz Müller
  4. Giulio Gasperini
  5. Clément Hamon

Heat 6 top 5;

  1. Xavier Corr
  2. Titouan Galea
  3. Camille Bouyer
  4. Bastien Escofet

18.10 – The roles get reversed again! We’re back with the men’s heat 5 of elimination 2. Fingers crossed we can continue with some more action as we head into the early evening.

17.57 – St Moritz puts us back on hold due to a lack of wind. Unfortunately, we were unable to get heat 6 finished.

We wait patiently to see what the race director decides.

17.48 – Heat 5 was skipped due to a lack of wind whilst athletes were out, so after a brief delay and waiting for the wind we’re currently back with heat 6 before throwing it back to heat 5. We’ll soon have our 10 finalists for Elimination 2!

17.35 – Whilst we attempted to run the first semi-final it shortly got called off as the race began.

17.20 – It’s a pumping masterclass from our riders as the wind is challenging for everyone! Heat 3 was won by Titouan Galea, Bastien Escofet in second and Nicoló Spanu in third. Heat 4’s top three were Camille Bouyer, Mathis Ghio, and Xavier Corr.

Another rain cloud is inbound! Let’s see what the race director makes of this.

17.07 – Women Elimination 2 was a tough heat all around. 5 out of the 9 ladies were unable to finish but Flora Artzner was able to pull through and take the victory.

16.52 – Elimination 2, heat 1 saw Alessandro Tomasi win whilst Stefan Spiessberger and Riccardo Zorzi claimed second and third. Heat 2 saw Francesco Cappuzzo win with Giulio Gasperini in second closely followed by Luca Franchi in third.

Heat 3 and 4 to follow!

16.35 – As the skies clear and the wind channels back down lake St Moritz it’s back to competition time for Elimination 2. Riders are entering the water and we’ll be back underway very shortly.

16.10 – Looks like that rain has caused the wind to die on us. We go on hold until further notice.

15.59 – The wind died on us for a few moments. Although it’s been very up and down throughout the last hour we’re making use of the spells that do come through! Heats are back up and running however some rain has just hit the Swiss Alps… Our fingers are crossed that it won’t kill the wind!

15.39 – We now move on to Elimination round two! The winds being a little light on us but we’re hoping it will build back up and allow more action to take place.

15.07 – After a slight drop in the wind, we were able to resume the Final for the Men’s Elimination 1! Camille Bouyer kept up his 100% record for the day with another win. An impressive performance from him so far today.

14.46 – We’ve got our final 10 men for the Elimination final! A great afternoon so far of solid racing with the wind being consistent for all heats! Before the men go back on the water the women had their elimination round one in which Nia Suardiaz took the win.

14.37 – Elimination Semi-Final number one was comfortably won by Camille Bouyer. He’s won both his heats in good fashion and advances with the remaining four. We’ve got Elimination Semi-Final number two up next which will closely follow the start of the women’s Surf-Slalom.

Stay tuned!

14.16 – As heat four wraps up we go straight into Elimination Semi-Final number one. The thermal winds really starting to become consistent now which should help create some fantastic racing.

14.10 – This downwind slalom course sure is catching a few riders off guard with just how quick it is! Heat three sees a handful of athletes take a tumble.

Elimination heat four up next.

14.05 – Heat two finished! A slightly less dramatic heat following on from the first! A great level of consistency across the field from all athletes with Stefan Spiessberger taking the win!

Heat three is up next with some big names in the mix!

13.53 – Wow… What a first Elimination heat! We had everything there. A restart began as two riders crossed the start line before the buzzer. Once the restart had happened it was a tight bundle all the way until the final corner where Maxime Chabloz benefited from a tumble from his competitor in front grasping him that all-important fifth place while Camille Bouyer was comfortably in front from start to finish.

Heat two up next!

13.34 – WE ARE ON! We’ve been given the thumbs up from our Race Director which only means one thing! The first race is starting shortly with round 1 of the Men’s Surf-Slalom. Make sure you’ve got the Sailmon app downloaded to follow our athlete’s every move!

12.55 – First possible start – 13.20

12.16 – Next call is at 12.30 with a first possible start of 12.45. We’re patiently waiting for the wind to funnel through and fill in just a tad more!

11.53 – First possible start – 12.15

11.35 – So some information about the course! Within the course, there are no upwind elements and it currently consists of 5 turning markers with a downwind pumping run right through to the finish line.

With the structure today expect exciting, speedy, and drama-filled racing!

11.22 – We’re now looking at an 11.45 first possible start.

11.oo – Skipper’s meeting has just finished and judges have briefed the riders on today’s current course. 5 turns to create quick, close racing with a downwind pumping run to the finish line!

Riders will also be equipped with a GPS tracking device for this event! We’re really excited to introduce this technology to the Surf-Slalom heats. It will help us track the riders throughout the course, be fantastic for close finishes and also give you at home the ability to follow every step of the way! Download the Sailmon app, hit events, and track every moment as it happens!

10.00 – Good morning and welcome back to our daily feed giving you the most up-to-date news on how Day two of the Ensis Engadinwing by Dakine GWA Wingfoil World Cup will play out! This morning sees crew and athletes head down to St Moritz where we’ll have an action-packed day of Surf-Slalom heats.

13.55 – N. Suardiaz takes it! She scores 19.57 which overcame F. Artzner’s 18.02. It all came down to the impression score and whilst we waited patiently on the beach for the result both riders can feel proud of such an exciting heat. This is where those impression scores will now come in handy!
