Ahead of his heat, Malo Guénolé said: “It’s my first time in Ibiraquera. We’ve been there a week before the comp and discovered some pretty sick waves. It’s more a left-hand oriented spot, so it’s good to finally ride some ‘lefts’ a bit.
“The wind is going to be pretty comfortable and the waves, don’t worry. I’ve seen a forecast of nothing and it’s my size of waves. So, I’m pretty sure we’re going to run in some pretty good conditions.
“For sure, Dakhla was a big bummer for me. I felt completely out of rhythm in my heat. I analysed my mistakes, so now I’m feeling comfortable here. I felt I was riding OK, so I’m excited to go on the water.”
