The skippers’ meeting is set for 11.00 with a first possible start at noon. The plan is to run another three rounds of the men’s elimination rounds, which would give riders their first discard, and as squeeze in as many women’s races as possible. The Livestream with Jo Ciastula and Liam Dredge is set to begin at 11.30. Tune in then.

11.07 Good morning. The skippers’ meeting is happening now. We are looking at a first possible start of 12.00 for the opening rounds of FreeFly-Slalom. We have 40 men and 11 women set to take to the track. Today it will be an nine-leg, course with a FreeFly “pump” section between marks five and six.

18.04 Men’s final Chris MacDonald v Malo Guenole v Axel Gerard v Jerome Cloetens. MacDonald takes the win to make it back-to-back victories in the Canaries in less than a week. Cloetens was the big surprise taking second place, coming from behind with his last trick. Guenole ends up third after being overhauled by Cloetens.
17.30 Women’s Viola Lippitsch v Bowien van der Linden v Orane Ceris v Nia Suardiaz. Suardiaz takes the win convincingly landing her first Back Flip in competition. Bowien van der Linden is second wtih a stready heat, Orane Ceris in third. She couldn’t quite build on her first big Back Flip to move up the order further.
17.10 M Semi-Final 2 Malo Guenole v Axel Gerard v Alan Fedit v Noe Cuyala. Gerard goes to the final in first place pulling ahead of Guenole right at the end of the heat with a big Frontside 10 in his last trick to earn 8.55. Fedit and Cuyala had chances to close the gap, but couldn’t land their last tricks.
16.35 M Semi-Final 1 Jerome Cloetens v Bastien Escofet v Chris MacDonald v Luca Vuillerment. MacDonald goes to the final with a heat total of 33.69 with a 9.23 for a Frontside 10 and 9.10 for a 9.10 for a Combo. Cloetens was on fire and racked up a total of 32.46. Viulllermet just missed out even though he got 9.07 for a Frontside 10.
16.20 M R5 H2 Cappuzzo v Sosa v Vuillermet v Fedit. We had a re-run of the last two tricks of that earlier heat as a score had been miscounted and there was a protest. Fedit retains his first position, but Vuillerment, 13, advances to the semi-final on the eve of his 14th birthday. He passes Cappuzzo with an 8.63 for his final Innovation trick to take his heat total to 28.70.
15.59 W Semi-Final 2 Maria Montorini v Sofia Marchetti v Viola Lipitsch v Nia Suardiaz. Suardiaz and the Austrian Lippitsch go forward to the final. Suardiaz closed out her heat with the a Raley to Frontside 3 Combo that sealed her win.
15.00 W Semi-Final 1 Eva Wyss v Isabel Trivino v Orane Ceris v Bowien van der Linden. Up next at 15.20. Ceris books here place in the final along with Van der Linden. Ceris’ opening 8.43 for a Back Flip put pressure on the other riders and then she landed Combo Raley to Frontside 3. for 6.20. Van der Linden also had a strong 21.06 heat total to progress.
14.20 R5 H4 Noé Cuyala v Solenn Gall v Benjamin May v Chris MacDonald. MacDonald and Cuyala head to the semi-finals. MacDonald scored a near-perfect 9.93 for his trademark Frontside 10 which was so clean. He also threw down a bunch of Combos that put him in a league of his own with a heat total of 32.51. Cuyala, 15, was not far behind with a 28.38 heat score that included a 7.90 for a Trailing-Edge Back Flip. That was the end of road for May and wildcard Solenn Gall, 15, who reached R5 in his first Surf-Freestyle world tour event.
13.55 R5 H3 Xavi Corr v Jerome Cloetens v Lasse Harbacek v Axel Gerard. What a heat. Cloetens was on fire with four eight plus trick scores. He saved the best for last, 8.53 with Toeside One-hand BackFlip with a nose grab. Number two ranked Axel Gerard pulled it out of the fire to also go to the semi-finals with a Frontside 10 that scored 9.47. That sent Xavi Corr packing.
13.34 M R5 H2 Francesco Cappuzzo v Ancor Sosa v Luca Vuillermet v Alan Fedit. Fedit goes to the semi-finals with Cappuzzo with heat scores of 28.85 and 27.06. Fedit sent a message the he’s up for the fight in the slightly lighter conditions with an 8.25 for a Combo and 8.13 for a Combo Frontside 7. Cappuzzo landed 8.53 for a Radiculo 7.
13.12 M R5 H1 Bastien Escofet v Clement Hamon v Nathan Berger v Malo Guenole. Guenole takes the win and goes through to the semi-final. With the men up to the best four tricks from eight attempts Guenole takes a fairly clear win with 30.67 that included a 8.10 for a Combo and 7.87 for a Frontside 3. Bastien Escofet advances with him with a heat score of 29.26.
12.51 W R4 H2 Elena Moreno v Sofia Marchetti v Eva Wyss v Kylie Belouvre. Marchetti goes through to the next round with a heat score of 12.86 with Eva Wyss who scored an 8.50 total.
12.33 W R4 H1 Isabel Triviño v Lucia Triviño v Maria Montironi v Charlotte Baruzzi. Isabel Trivino goes foward with a heat score of 12.19 followed by Maria Montironi into the next round.

18.08 M S-F R4 H4 Clement Hamon v Vinni Martins v Luca Vuillermet v Oscar Leclair. Hamon and Vuillermet go forward, while that’s the end of the Surf-Freestyle road for Martins and Leclair.
17.46 M S-F R4 H3 Ancor Sosa v Riccardo Zorzi v Lilian Juppet v Nathan Berger. Sosa and Berger go to the next round. Berger did just enough with his last trick to leapfrog Juppet, who was out, along with Zorzi.
17.25 M S-F R4 H2 Jerome Cloetens v Max Robinson v Benjamin May v Jose Estredo. Cloetens takes the heat with a big Radiculo 7 for an 8.50 score and a total of 23.21 to advance, along with Benjamin May who throws down his huge trademark Front Flip for 8.07.
17.06 M S-F R4 H1 Balz Müller v Lasse Harbacek v Giulio Gasperini v Solenn Gall. Muller is out of the competition from a neck injury in the previous heat. Harbacek goes forward with a 14.77 heat score, along with Gall who did slightly better with 15.33.

16.40 W S-F R3 H3 Charlotte Baruzzi v Viola Lippitsch v Sofia Marchetti. Lippitsch takes the win and goes forward.

16.07 Women’s Surf-Freestyle R3 H1 Lucia Triviño v Kylie Belouvre v Orane Ceris. Ceris wins with a heat score of 20.66.
15.52 M S-F H8 Nathan Berger v Oscar Leclair v Chris MacDonald. MacDonald picks up where he left off in Pozo Izquierdo throwing down the biggest trick score of the day – 9.50 – for a Frontside 10 to take his score to 26.17. That sends him to R5, with Berger second and Leclair in third going to R4.
15.37 M S-F R3 H7 Vinni Martins v Noé Cuyala v Ancor Sosa. Cuyala goes to R5 with a big heat scored of 21.93. Sosa comes from behind to take second with his last three tricks after four crashes.
15.20 M S-F R3 H6 Luca Vuillermet v Lilian Juppet v Axel Gerard. Gerard just takes it over Vuillermet to advance. It seemed that Juppet and Vuillermet might have been playing cat and mouse trying to avoid some heavy hitters in the next round.
15.03 M S-F R3 H5 Clément Hamon v Riccardo Zorzi v Xavi Corr. Corr takes it and goes to R5 with the highest score of the day so far, 9.0, for a Combo. Hamon, the U16 Surf-Freestyle world champion, is close behind but goes to R4 with Zorzi to fight it out.
14.23 M S-F R3 H4 Jose “Gollito” Estredo v Giulio Gasperini v Alan Fedit. Fedit way out in front goes to R5. His 8.77 for a Combo and 8.60 for a Corkscrew Frontside 7 were sublime. Estredo and Gasperini fight for survival in R4.
14.06 M S-F R3 H3 Max Robinson v Balz Müller v Francesco Cappuzzo. Cappuzzo grabs on the buzzer with a big 7.17 for a Front Flip that takes his heat score to 21.07 and overhauls Müller in the process. He goes to R4 with Robinson.
13.45 M S-F R3 H2 Solenn Gall v Benjamin May v Malo Guénolé. Super-tight heat with each to the athletes on total scores of just over 20 for much it until Guenole pulled out with a 7.70 for a Trailing Edge Backflip. Gall and May go to R4.
13.33 M S-F R3 H1 Luca Harbacek v Jerome Cloetens v Bastien Escofet. Escofet takes it at the death by 0.04 of a point over Cleotens. Escofet landed a huge starboard tack Frontside 7 for 7.87 as the final trick of heat. Cloetens and Harbacek live to fight again in R4.
13.12 M S-F R2 H2 Nathan Berger v Chucho Nonnot v Luc Lohier v Luca Vuillermet. French teenager Vuillermet goes through with a big 21.37 heat score that included at 7.67 for a Frontside 7. Spaniard Nathan Berger joins him in R3 with an 18.70, including 7.87 for new move involving a wing pass.
12.40 M S-F R2 H1 Valentin Lux v Luca Gasperini v Solenn Gall v Jose “Gollito” Estredo. The AP – heat postponed – flag is up for a moment. Gall wins with a heat total of 19.90 and windsurfing legend “Gollito” Estredo joins him in R3 with heat score of 18.64.
12.28 M S-F R1 H4 Luc Lohier v Valentin Lux v Vinnicius Martins. Martins takes the win and goes to R3. Lohier landed a couple of big tricks but couldn’t quite put it together. Lux crashed a lot, but will get another chance in R2.
11.48 M S-F R1H3 Luca Vuillermet v Luca Gasperini v Clément Hamon. Red flag in the sky and the heat is on hold for a moment. We’ll be back shortly. Hamon comes through in style with a couple of big tricks that included 7.40 for a Frontside 7. Vuillermet, who had a decent score, and Gasperini live to fight again in round two. The livestream’s proving temperamental, so please bear with us.
11.25 M S-F R1H2 Nathan Berger v Solenn Gall v Max Robinson. Robinson wins and advances with an 18.57 heat total with three solid scoring tricks in 30 knots of wind. Berger only scored two tricks, but they were the biggest scoring tricks, one 7.63 for a big Frontside 7.

Today we’ll kick-off with the men’s and women’s Surf-Freestyle contests. We have 28 men 10 women ready to throw down their best moves. The plan is to move through the whole of the Surf-Freestyle competition today and tomorrow, if the wind cooperates. It’s been good all week at around 25 knots, so it looks promising for some incredible action.
