13.00 – And that’s a wrap for the GWA Wingfoil World Cup in New Zealand! We have our prize giving ceremony coming up at 5pm, and stay tuned for our highlight video later today! Thanks to everyone for joining us.

12.58 – Women’s elimination 13 is done. Bowien van der Linden takes another win! Orane 2nd, Nia 3rd.

12.10 – Men’s elimination 5 results – 1st Bastien Escofet, 2nd Chris Mac Donald , 3rd Zane. 

11.53 – General recall for the final of elimination 5. 4 people over early – Ancor Sosa, Camille Bouyer, Oscar Leclair, Titouan Galea.

11.30 – Semi-Final 2 is now complete with Cappuzzo going through first. We now move on to women’s elimination 12, followed by men’s winner final then mini final. 

10.30 – Welcome to our final day of competition here in New Zealand! We have again re-located to Pilot Bay where we are hoping to complete Elimination 5 for the men. Semi-final 2 are out on the water getting ready.

16.45 – That’s it for today! We will continue tomorrow with our final day of competition!

15.00 – A new course was set for Elimination 4, which featured two FreeFly sections, making a trickier, more technical course.

The wind was blowing a clean 15 knots for the final. Bastien Escofet had a clean start, and held the lead throughout the final. He blasted through the finish claiming his 3rd elimination win. Titouan managed to keep up the pace claiming 2nd place. Alan Fedit claimed the 3rd position after managing to overtake several riders, with the FreeFly section being the most controversial part of the course.

14.00 – For the women, we managed to complete 7 eliminations. New Zealand local athlete Aimee Bright was performing incredibly well today, showing she is very comfortable competing in this division despite this being her first GWA competition. She won 2 eliminations, Nia took 5 elimination wins for the day. Bowien van der Linden kept up with the pace and placed herself 3rd overall for the day. By 2pm, the women were released for the day after now completing 11 eliminations with 3 discards.

12.00 – Women’s Elimination 8 results – Nia Suardiez, Bowien van der Linden, Aimee Bright.

11.28 – Men’s Elimination 2 finals – Titouan Galean, Zane Schweitzer and Camille Bouyer.

11.23 – Women’s elimination 6 – Nia Suardiez, Aimee Bright, Bowien van der Linden.

11.15 – Men’s semi-final 2 – Bastien Escofet, Titouan Galea in 2nd and Hugo Wigglesworth

11.10 –  Men’s semi-final 1 – Clement Colmas in 1st, Camille Bouyer in 2nd  and Thomas Robertson in 3rd.

11.00 – The action on! We are on men’s semi-final 1.

19.00 – That’s a wrap for today as the conditions have not improved. We managed to complete one race for women and three races for the men. We will be back tomorrow with a better looking forecast!

18.00 – The conditions are borderline, and we are back on hold as the wind has dropped. We are aiming to complete one full men’s elimination and 4 more women’s eliminations.

17.30 – We have moved back to the main competition site and we are starting with womens elimination 4

15.30 – We are still on hold. The conditions are not suitable yet.

13.00 – Hello from New Zealand! The rider’s briefing is now complete. We are waiting for the wind to pick up so that we can get started with the FreeFly-Slalom discipline. We will keep you updated on start times.

19.30 – Bastien Escofet cruised through winning this first elimination followed by Francesco Cappuzzo in 2nd and Alan Fedit in 3rd. On the women’s side we completed three full races, with Nia Suardiez winning two, and Aimee Bright winning the third. 

18.00 – The FreeFly – Slalom action is ON! 

16.30 – We are taking a short break now, and will be starting the FreeFly – Slalom discipline at 5pm. Stay tuned!

16.10 -Bowien van der Linden started her day strong with an impressive heat score of 17.37 points for the first heat of the day. Both her and Nia Suardiez advanced from Round 1 directly to the Semi-Finals.

Semi-Final 1 saw Bowien repeat her solid performance, were her high scores allowed her to defeat New Zealand local Aimee Bright. Nia Suardiez faced Orane Chris in yhr second Semi-Final against Orane Ceris. Her Front Side 3 and Toeside Front Side 3 allowed her to gain a good lead and lock down her spot in the final.

The final consisted of two of our strongest riders, Nia and Bowien were matched up for an intense heat. Nia achieved three solid scores and managed to gain an advantage over Bowien, allowing her to claim her first event win of the 2023 season.

16.00 -The final was a showdown between two of the youngest riders on tour. Our current World Champion Malo Guenole vs Chris Mac Donald. Both went trick for trick, with Chris opening with a 7.43 point Back Flip. Malo responded with an outstanding 8.63 point Front Side 7. Chris continued building scores, nailing a Front Side 7 and Front Flip, and just managed to steal the win from Mal by 0.8 points. An incredible final from two of the strongest athletes on tour.

15.40 -Malo Guenole went all in against Alan Fedit with his Front Side 7 scoring giving him the lead and the spot in the finals.

Christopher Mac Donald managed to ride another impressive heat defeating Ancor Sosa who has been riding incredibly well also. Mac Donald secured his spot in the final.

15.13 – Incredible quarter final between Bastien Escofet and Chris Mac Donald, with Chris advancing by a fraction of a point.

14.43 – Malo Guenole and Alan Fedit advance to semi-finals

14.13 – Bowien van der Linden storms through her heat and advances over Orane Cerise

14.00 – Christopher Mac Donald advances over Cash Berzolla

13.57 – Bastien Escofet also advances to Round 3.

13.00 – Men’s Round 1 is now complete, with all of the top seeded riders advancing. The standout heat of the round went to newcomer Cash Berzolla, who gained a top overall score of 19.33 points. His clean and powered Front Flip scored him 7.93 points.

13.00 – Camille Bouyer, Malo Guenole, Titouan Galea, Alan Fedit, Francesco Cappuzzo, and Ancor Sosa all advance to Round 3.

19.00 –  The wind has unfortunately dropped again, so that’s a wrap for today. We will be back tomorrow, start time still to be confirmed.

18.20 – Titouan Galea advances through to round 2.

17.20 – The heats are back on. Currently watching Julien Bouyer vs Josh Collins.

17.00 – The AP flag is up as the wind has dropped slightly. We hope to re-start shortly.

16.30 – The win is blowing approximately 14 knots and we are working our way through the heats. Advancing so far we have Lillian Juppet, Camille Bouyer and Malo Guenole who have each won their heats.

15.40 – Judging criteria – 15 minute heats, 2 minute transitions, 12 trick attempts and top wave and trick are counting.

15.30 – The wind has kicked in, so we will be ending the tow-in competition, which has reached the semi-finals, and moving on to the men’s Surf-Freestyle division.

13.30 – Good afternoon from New Zealand! After yesteday’s lay day today we are back for more! Tow-in foil competition is first up as we wait for the wind to fill in.

16.45 – The wind is blowing approximately 10 to 14 knots. Men’s Round 1 is up now.

16.15 – The wind is picking up and we hope to start the official competition shortly.12 minute heat duration and 2 minute transition. 

14.00 – We are running a Tow-in Surf Foil competition starting now whilst we wait for the wind.

11.30 – Still no sign of the wind for now. We will keep you updated hourly.

10.00 – Good morning from New Zealand! The riders briefing is now complete. We will now wait for the wind to hopefully increase to be able to run the competition today. We will keep you updated with possible start times.

19.15 – We have two more heats left to complete the men’s seeding round before sunset.

18.00 – The wind has increased once again to the heats have been re-started.

17.00 – We are back on standby due to a drop in the wind. 

16.45 – The action is on, and we are starting with the men’s seeding round. Conditions are light, but suitable. Live scoring is not available for the seeding round, but will be available as from the next round. 

15.15 – We are still on standby but the wind is increasing and we could start very shortly.

12.00 – We are currently moving over to Pilot Bay where the wind conditions look more suitable to be able to start the contest. We will keep you updated on start times. There will be no live stream today.

10.oo – Good morning from Tauranga, New Zealand! The rider’s meeting is taking place now. The wind is very light now but there is a forecast for some wind later in the afternoon.
